And Other Things Keeping Me Busy...

On Wednesday night, I went to the Walnut Street Theater to see their new production, The Eclectic Society. It was opening night and it was a great production! Set in the early 60s, it is about young men in a fraternity on an eastern campus. The cast was quite good, the script had great humor in it, the set design was quite well done and the theater is beautiful and intimate.

My colleague had gotten a bunch of free tickets so we were able to have a nice group of co-workers there. The seats were wonderful, although I suspect the theater doesn't really have a bad seat. For anyone in Philly, this is definitely a production I'd recommend.

Exposure

I will admit I've been a little down in the dumps lately.... more of a light gray than a black mood-wise. It's probably Seasonal Affective Disorder, although I've never been formally diagnosed. I've been trying to feel happier through exercise, yoga, positive thinking and the like. It is mostly beneficial. I find, when I'm not feeling like my normal glass half-full self, I tend to write more in my journal. Writing is a good purge for me.

Crafting however is typically a happy activity for me. And I just haven't been doing it. Perhaps because my mood is less than craft worthy. Perhaps because it is cold by the window which is where my sewing machine is located. Perhaps because I just can't fully relax to get myself to the right mindset for proper crafting. I've been thinking about it a lot. I've even been having the chicken and the egg conversation regarding crafting and mood.

Anyway, I try to keep this a happy place but wanted to let you know why I've been away a bit more lately than normal. I hope to be back with crafting (and life) deliciousness soon.

Sleepy

This has been our MO lately. All snuggly, curled up together resting.... just about perfect. We've recuperated from my crazy work schedule. Now to launch myself back into crafting and life!

Random Thoughts for a Thursday

:: Crazy work schedule done for another year. Everything went quite smoothly, although I might still have some parent calls in the next couple of days.

:: No more knitting happened at work... sadly.

:: Dated a guy briefly and had him reveal himself as less than worthy. Too bad I kind of fell before that revealing. Such is life. And at least it was early on.

:: Realized my limitations regarding volunteering and made some cuts to my schedule. Feeling good about that decision.

:: Bought Cocoa Krispies to get me through the crazy work time. Making me happy.

:: Have upped my yoga practice. Wowzers, that's fantastic.

:: Going to the aquarium on Saturday with another guy. Time shall tell.

:: Bought something from the Craft Hope for Haiti shop. Feeling good, especially since life was too busy for me to make something.

:: Drinking a glass of wine and relaxing tonight.... just about perfect.

Overall, life is pretty darn good. What's making you smile?

A Little Crafting While Working

I've managed to do a wee bit of knitting while spending all of my quality time working this past week. I'm lucky because, although I have to be there, there is a bunch of downtime. My magazine reading and my knitting have been the lucky recipients of said downtime.

I cast on that infinity scarf again, this time making my own design. Yes, I'm well aware this might cause more frogging. But so far, so good. I like how it is coming along, even if I seem to be knitting it rather slowly. At the pace I'm going, it'll be done in time for spring!

An Adjustment

I'm doing something a little different, unexpected. I'm changing the year theme. Thankfully, we are only 11 days in to the year. Last night, after reading this book some more and thinking, thinking, thinking I decided the theme needs to be realigned. Although "Surround Yourself in Love" is wonderful, I really need to inspire myself. And, because I believe flexibility is a good thing, I'm adjusting. For 2010, we're using a theme of "Leap!" Because the very act of leaping, of trusting, of being less in control, of experiencing Life fully is what I need. Leap and you'll never know what you might find.

Things Found In My Office

This was our visitor at work yesterday.Tell me, how many people have a giant fish randomly show up at work?

I'm headed into my crazy time at work. Over the next two weeks, I'll have a number of 16 or more hour days. So my posts will be sporadic or non-existent. Crafting... such a funny idea at this time of year! Although, I do hope to have a quilt to show you soon. And I cast on that infinity scarf again. But, until then, swordfish for you!

The Evil Mistress

Oh knitting.... you horrible, horrible tease of a craft. I was working on an infinity scarf with this gray yarn I got on sale about a year ago. I liked the pattern and loved having your needles back in my hands. You tempted me with the feel of alpaca and Addi Turbos. And I knit the whole thing. And I hated it. The scarf rolled into itself. It just wasn't pretty. And so knitting, I frogged the project. Now we're back to a ball of yarn. I' m thinking about another infinity scarf. Please, knitting, be nicer this go round.

Kicking Off '10 Right

Surround Yourself in Love. That's what 2010 is all about. What will this first day bring me to love, enjoy and inspire? We started the day by sleeping in, a cool morning walk with Rosy and a spot of knitting. My fridge is stocked with food from my dinner party last night and a pot of chili is simmering on the stove. Rosy is dreaming a little dream in the next room. I can hear those tiny sleeping barks that always make me smile. Life is good. I can't help but smile at my fortune.
