1st Meeting
This weekend was the first meeting of the Philly Modern Quilt Guild. What a fun time! Julie from Jaybird Quilts was kind enough to be our coordinator and hostess for the first meeting. Pretty much all of the women there have a lot more quilting experience than me so I think it's a group that can teach me a bunch. And, the energy and excitement in the room was amazing. I think this is the start of something good....

The Exchange, Part II
My friend received her quilt so now I can finally share! This is the quilt I put together for her. She asked for yellow and green fabrics as her main colors.
When she first said that, I didn't have a clear design idea in mind. As I read different blogs, different ideas came to mind. Finally, I settled in what you see above. Wow, it was so fun to do! Normally, I'm more of an improviser in my quilting. It was a good exercise to
do something more structured. And I LOVE the final result. I like how the greens pop. And the fabrics are just some of my favorites.
Laura liked the final quilt so I'm happy! This exchange, although delayed, made my Christmas even more special. Thanks Laura!

The Exchange
I may have mentioned before that my friend Laura and I decided to make each other small quilts for Christmas this past year. Of course, life kind of got in the way for both of us so we are celebrating Christmas a couple of months late. I just got my quilt in the mail this week.
She did an amazing job! It's a little bigger than 45x45 inches and absolutely lovely! We each stipulated colors but otherwise it was whatever the giver wanted. I couldn't have asked for a better gift. Her quilt is in the mail... hopefully it will arrive today. I'm quite pleased with how it came out and can't wait to share that project here finally.

Vintage Love
As you probably have realized, I love vintage-y things. And, when I was ordering another item from LaBrocanterie's etsy shop as a gift for a friend, I had to buy this little tin too. This is just the perfect little piece for my kitchen.
It's sitting next to another tin and a wooden apple on the top of my stove. I'm so glad I bought this little lovely piece. Now, if I can stay out of LaBrocanterie's shop. Because now I'm in love with this and this and this. Oh, and this... really just adore!

Is Spring Around the Corner?

I'm also pretty excited because I managed to get in the Unravelling class to begin March 8th. I really can't wait for this class!! I think it will be a lot of good exploration. Susannah seems like a really cool lady and I can't wait to learn more from her.
Now, I'm looking forward to a new quilt project - a small baby quilt for the soon-to-be little one of a friend!
