More Mug Rugs!

I worked on some bunting mug rugs for my friend Jenny, who saw mine on the 'Book and asked if I'd make her some.  I used rick rack instead of ribbon this time.  I mostly used it because it was out but really, I think I love it more than ribbon.  It adds to the cutesy.  Now to find some backing fabric and sew them together!

More Etsy Finds

I recently put together a Christmas list for my aunt.  My extended family moved our Christmas celebration to August because we're too big to comfortable fit in the house and outside celebrations in Buffalo in December are not ideal!  In putting together the list, I went through some of my Etsy favorites.  Oh goodness, there are newly listed treasures in some of the stores. Here are some new favorites:

:: This teak bowl would be awesome for salads.

:: Love this globe.  I need to get one for the top of my entertainment center.

:: How fun is this collar for Rosy?

:: I still want an EAT sign for my kitchen (just in red!)

:: And how fun would it be to wear this arrow

:: And I love this bag.  Such fun colors and design!

:: Although truly my first bag love is this

:: And of course some Pyrex, because I love it.

Seriously, sometimes I just need to tell myself "Self, walk away from Etsy." And then I go to Pinterest.... (just as bad!)

Happy Wednesday folks!

Squirreling Away

I made these napkins last week.  I went through my fabric stash for something else, came across this fabric and decided I definitely wanted to make something from it right away.  I have the rick rack on hand as well... sadly not enough of one color so the napkins are a bit different.
Seriously, who doesn't love fabric with squirrels, garden gnomes, cat statutes and bunnies?  They are fun and I can't wait to have someone over for dinner so I can use them!

Brewery Tour

Last weekend, I went with the manfriend's family to Cooperstown, NY.  While we were there, we did a tour of the Ommegang brewery.  It was so much fun!!
It's a lovely craft beer place.  I'm not a huge beer fan but thought it was delightful.  And I fell in love with their Witte beer.  Yep, I could see myself drinking that a bit!!
Best part of the tour for me though was the "beer goggles" we had to wear inside the brewery during the tour.  Seriously, who doesn't love something that requires goggles?

Tackling My Chairs

My kitchen chairs are a mismatched group.  I've been collecting new ones to replace the Ikea ones I have and find uncomfortable.  The mission has always been to paint them a unifying color.  I've amassed three new-to-me chairs and have searched for a fourth. However, I haven't had any luck.
I finally decided it was time to give up and get to painting.  Last week, I bought some sandpaper and paint.  (I already had primer.) I got to sanding and painting.  This is the first chair done.  It's one of the Ikea ones.  I have another one mostly done.  It needs one more coat probably.  I'm loving how they are turning out.  And I think I love the pop of color in the kitchen.  I'm so glad I didn't hold off any longer because just seeing this red makes me happy!

Bunting Love

I love bunting.  And I've been looking at all of the various bunting related projects online and drooling a bit.  So I finally decided, now that the sewing machine is out and getting action, to make myself a little mug rug with some bunting.
Obviously, it is a quick project - just what I needed to feel success and not interfere with my pie baking last week.  It's a great little addition to my side table in the living room.  And big enough to accommodate two mugs or glasses if needed.  Yay for sewing!  Yay for bunting!

Apple Pie Mania

I've been baking a lot of apple pies lately.  It's the manfriend's favorite dessert.  And his birthday was the beginning of the month.  I took one to his family's for the celebration.  It disappeared!  And then someone made a comment about how I was welcome to bring one to Cooperstown when we visited later in the month.  So two more were baking last week for a trip up to NYS.  They were delicious!  Two pieces came home with the manfriend.  I'm sure one made for a very tasty early morning breakfast.

Flea Market Success

I've had an old plastic, lacking of charm recipe box forever.  I've kind of hated it and searched on Etsy and in other places for a replacement.  I had little success until Memorial Day weekend, when I was home and visited the Clarence Flea Market outside Buffalo.  I stumbled across this treasure.  Actually, I think my mom stumbled upon it.  And she did not even knowing how much I wanted to replace my old one!
Anywho, my recipes - new ones and old treasures from Mom and Grandma - welcomed this new home.  I love the little plaque on the front.  And the tongue and groove construction.  Yep, it's just about perfect!

I've Been Sewing!

Yes, I finally got the machine back out and have been creating!  First project up was this bag that I took on vacation last weekend.  It's pretty simple, not interfacing and four different fabric patterns.  I love it.  And I love that I'm sewing again.  Look for some additional posts soon!
